POTENTIALITY OF AGROCHEMICAL IN BANGLADESH
FEEDING THE GLOBE & LOOKING AFTER THE ENVIRONMENT – Agrochemical is part of Agricultural Input and includes a number of sub-sectors such as Fertilizer and Pesticides. Bangladesh is currently going through a huge production boost. Bangladesh is primarily an agrarian economy. Agriculture is the single largest producing sector of the economy since it comprises about 30% of the country’s GDP and employs around 66% of the total labor forceThere are a huge number of companies and private workshops. These require huge quantities of Agrochemicals every day. Chemical import has tripled in the last decade. It is an indicator of growing industrialisation. Agriculture supplies around thirty percent of the country’s GDP. Agriculture requires huge chemical usage including fertilizers, pesticides, preservatives, hormones, etc. Because of low research and development system 3 of our big ammonia (Nh3) fertilizer industry has practically shut down. For environmental safety, Government-run chemical industries are required first. After the success of these, private sectors may be interested. For this reason the government should attract intellectuals for modern methods. As Bangladesh has huge cultivable land, improvement of the chemical sector may trigger agro and industrial revolution at the same time. It can also add PPP to the country as lower class people would also get the advantages. At the same time the GDP will also increase.
